I am so excited to share with you a few favorites from my Sassy & Classy photo session Thank you ladies for making my vision a reality!

What is a Sassy & Classy photo session you ask? Maybe you’re not asking that, but I thought’d be a good transition…Anyway… A Sassy & Classy photo session is my spin on boudoir photography. It is light, fun, playful. You being you, looking cute and having a good time. Nothing over the top. A girls next door approach to boudoir.

Something I recommend when you do a boudoir session is to bring a friend along. They can cheer you on or even better, they can pose with you to eliminate any nerves you may have. This is also a fun thing to do for bachelorette parties too!

Fun…Playful…Lots and lots of laughter. Whenever I’m shooting a Sassy & Classy boudoir session we are having a great time. We have music pumping and I show off my not-so-killer dance moves – which one of two things happen, we start laughing all over again or I fall down because I’m graceful like that But what I love most….is that I get to show each woman I work with  just how truly beautiful they are. So, a big thank you to Miss K. You are such a fun person and you look Ah. Maze. Ing! (- that right there was internet grammer because I’m so ‘hip’…)

I LOVE Bernadette’s style. Bold, creative and glamorous. And I soooo badly wanted her amazing pink glitter heels. Bernadette is a professional model that I had the pleasure of working with recently. We bonded over, fashion (big surprise..) and music…We both love Lykke Li, who Bernadette recently got to see… Lets just say I was a tad bit jealous

McKenna is… Vibrant… Beautiful… Stylish. And an absolute blast to work with. I recently photographed her sassy & classy session and I think we were laughing 90% of the time I was also in loooove with her biege heels with the ribbon on top. Too cute! Every time I photograph one of these sessions I feel so honored to document my clients beauty, to see them really shine inside and out.

If I’ve said it once, I could say it a thousand times – I love boudoir photography.

For me boudoir photography is so much more than sexy poses, lingerie and heels. It is a big self-esteem and confidence booster. To give the gift of making someone truly see and even more importantly feel beautiful is amazing. If you are struggling with your body image, or think if I could only loose X number of pounds then I would feel beautiful enough, or any number of things that make us not feel ‘good enough’…Well…YOU are not only good enough, but extraordinarly beautiful as you are – now. And boudoir photography can really show that is entirely true.

Speaking of beautiful, I had the great pleasure of working with Miss S. Her boyfriend is currently in the Army and fighting in the war in Afghanistan. I so admire their love for each other and recognize the hardship of him being not only away, but also not in the safest of places. Everyone is counting the days until he is home.

In honor of her man, she started off the session with his dog tags and lingerie in red, white and blue.

I am unbelievably THRILLED to share with you my brand new boudoir photography site!!

As you can see from the above image my boudoir photography websites name is – These Are Your Days.

Because I believe that…

These are your days to celebrate and love you for you. To document how beautiful you are – right now. It’s not about being a ‘perfect’ size or age or fill in the blank. All that happens in waiting to be ‘perfect’ is time lost not appreciating – you.

My style of boudoir photography goes beyond the typical. Because of this I meet with each woman to create a theme that fits their personality. Then I create a Pinterest pin board for the shoot. Oh, how I love that site This will give you a visual, a mood for the shoot and what to buy/bring for clothing.

This board reflects a 70′s inspired style shoot with lots of fringe, hats, big glasses, 70′s hair styles, etc.

After trying to shoot both film and digital on photo sessions I noticed something. My digital camera was getting in the way. The speed in which it works is like a crutch. And I found myself neglecting what I was most excited about…what is currently fueling my creative spirit. My film and polaroid cameras.

My precious-essss’ss

In my never ending need to grow as an artist, I decided I needed a challenge – A film only shoot.

But I did not want to do it alone. I knew it would be so much more fun and rewarding working with my dear friend and crazy, awesome film/polaroid photographer Bria Morrison.

Together we planned a theme(boho boudoir), booked the incredible model Leah Morris, scouted locations and chose clothing from our favorite store 360 Ecotique.

We planned and then planned some more.

And then the day of shooting with my precious-esss’ss aka my 250 Polaroid Land Camera and quirky little Holga arrived.

Giddy.

I couldn’t have been more giddy…to work with Leah, Bria, the lighting, the location, the clothing…to see my polaroid’s develop…

Right then and there – I wanted to throw away my digital camera.

In an instant I was swept away.

Lost deep inside my own mind.

A place of boundless creativity.

I felt alive.

Shoots like these fuel my soul. It’s where my heart lives and breathes. I am so grateful to have collaborated with fellow photographer and dear friend Bria and amazing model Leah for this shoot. The inspiration behind the shoot was bohemian boudoir and to use film only.

The limitation of only using film felt freeing to me, which seems odd, but it was so very true.

Boudoir photography for me is about going beyond the typical. And the same goes for my clients. They are looking to go beyond traditional, cookie-cutter, pin-up type boudoir. So, together we craft an overall style and theme. Make pinterest boards, pick out wardrobe and find the perfect location. It’s fully styled from start to finish. This particular shoot was a mix of film noir meets modern day. Shadows…Contrast…Vintage…Moody…And I am so excited to share a few favorites from our session!

In between me, ‘oohh-ing and ahh-ing’ over her paintings and her library of classic and contemporary literature, we were rolling in laughter. I got to add some new words into my vocabulary thanks to K. Like…Hangry, which means so hungry you’re angry. And Champs, short for champagne. We shared stories. We listened to her eclectic music collection. And best of all I got to document her fine art boudoir session.

It’s just a few letters, but…

Trust, is a big deal.

And when it comes to creating intimate, personal, unique boudoir photographs, it becomes a very big deal. It’s more important than the perfect make-up, hair style, or clothing. Trust, makes or breaks the session. It’s why I meet with all my clients before I even pick up the camera. We chat about you, your life and your questions about the session. We laugh, share a sparkly cold beverage and then the trust begins to build. A leap of faith is made, and in that moment, I know great art can be made.

I knew from the get go, when I met Ana May, that her session would be amazing. Not just because, she is so vibrant, sweet and charming. I could have talked to her for hours! But, it’s because she had trust in me. Together we crafted boudoir portraits that will be cherished for a lifetime. There are a a multitude of reasons why I love being a boudoir photographer, but the ones that stand out the most for me are…

1. the people that come into my life, and…

2. being able to create images that really show their true beauty.

It’s so easy to get caught up in comparing ourselves to images we see in magazines, celebrities, heck even the seemingly perfect girl walking down the street. And with boudoir photography I get to give the experience of not only making my clients look beautiful, but really feel beautiful. And to forget about comparing themselves to others and just be happy with themselves, even if it’s just for a day. Because you ladies are awesome Each and everyone of you.

Today I am so excited to share with you a boudoir photo shoot that really showcased the personality and style of Ms. H. From drinking tea from her favorite mug in the morning, to her absolutely adorable doggie who joined us for a few pictures and of course some steamy outfits as well. Ms. H contacted me to create her session as a gift for her soon to be husband. And I can’t think of a more fun gift to give to your significant other or yourself
